Ordered as SH70336, this is an AS568-336 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 2.85 in (72.39 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.27 in (83.06 mm). The square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Buna-N (Nitrile) offers the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and low compression set under sustained load. The compound resists petroleum-based oils, propane and butane, and many alcohols. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
