568-360 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SH70360, an AS568-360 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 5.85 in (148.59 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.27 in (159.26 mm). A square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

This material stands up to many alcohols, water, and greases and lubricants. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is widely chosen for strong abrasion and tear resistance, an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in polar solvents or ketones. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
