Ordered as SH70368, this is an AS568-368 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 7.725 in (196.22 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.145 in (206.88 mm). The square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

This material stands up to hydraulic fluids, many alcohols, and petroleum-based oils. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) offers strong abrasion and tear resistance, low compression set under sustained load. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where strong acids or polar solvents are present. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
