568-446 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SH70446 is an AS568-446 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 8.475 in (215.27 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.025 in (229.24 mm). This square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and low compression set under sustained load. This material stands up to propane and butane, many alcohols, and hydraulic fluids. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where strong acids or ozone and direct sunlight are present. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
