568-229 PTFE ORINGS FDA

Part number TFE229 is an AS568-229 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.359 in (59.92 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.637 in (66.98 mm). An o-ring creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The compound resists solvents, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.

It sees regular use in food and beverage, laboratory equipment, and semiconductor fabrication.
