As a material, Viton® (FKM) offers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, outstanding high-temperature capability. Expect good resistance to many acids, aggressive chemicals, and engine and transmission fluids. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with amines or low-molecular-weight organic acids. The profile itself contributes a parting line located away from the sealing surface and resistance to the spiral twisting that defeats round-section rings.
