Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. The compound resists chlorinated solvents, petroleum oils and fuels, and many acids. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where amines or hot water and steam are present.

It sees regular use in high-temperature process equipment, semiconductor equipment, and chemical processing.
