Ordered as S70MD241, this is an AS568-241 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 3.859 in (98.02 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.137 in (105.08 mm). The o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

As a material, Silicone is valued for excellent electrical insulating properties and very good compression set resistance across its range. The compound resists ozone and UV exposure, weathering, and many oxidizing chemicals. Service temperature is rated from -80°F (-62.2°C) through 450°F (232.2°C). It should not be specified for service in steam above its rated range or concentrated acids.

The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. It sees regular use in ovens and heated equipment, food and beverage processing, and medical devices.
