This o-ring is supplied in AS568-113 red Silicone 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 0.549 in (13.94 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.755 in (19.18 mm), catalogued under part number S70113. It compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

The material holds up against extreme heat and cold, many oxidizing chemicals, and ozone and UV exposure. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Silicone is known for an exceptionally wide service temperature range and excellent electrical insulating properties. Published continuous service range is -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving hydrocarbon fuels and oils or concentrated acids call for a different compound.
