Ordered as S2X40, this is a red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 40 mm (1.575 in), a cross section of 2 mm (0.079 in), and an outside diameter of 44 mm (1.73 in). The o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

The material holds up against extreme heat and cold, dry heat, and many oxidizing chemicals. Silicone offers an exceptionally wide service temperature range and excellent electrical insulating properties. Continuous operating temperature is published at -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). It should not be specified for service in abrasive dynamic service or hydrocarbon fuels and oils.
