Ordered as SV70008, this is an AS568-008 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.176 in (4.47 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.316 in (8.03 mm). The square-cut ring presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

Viton® (FKM) delivers outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. The material holds up against many acids, aggressive chemicals, and aromatic hydrocarbons. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or amines will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
