568-009 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70009, this is an AS568-009 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.208 in (5.28 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.348 in (8.84 mm). The square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

It resists engine and transmission fluids, chlorinated solvents, and petroleum oils and fuels. Viton® (FKM) is valued for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or amines will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
