This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-010 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 0.239 in (6.07 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.379 in (9.63 mm), catalogued under part number SV70010. It presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

It resists engine and transmission fluids, chlorinated solvents, and many acids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is valued for the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving hot water and steam or amines call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
