568-021 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

SV70021 is an AS568-021 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.926 in (23.52 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.066 in (27.08 mm). In service, this square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for outstanding high-temperature capability and industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. This material stands up to chlorinated solvents, petroleum oils and fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or amines call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
