568-022 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-022 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 0.989 in (25.12 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.129 in (28.68 mm), catalogued under part number SV70022. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Viton® (FKM) offers very low compression set at elevated temperature and outstanding high-temperature capability. The compound resists chlorinated solvents, engine and transmission fluids, and petroleum oils and fuels. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in hot water and steam or ketones and esters. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
