SV70030 is an AS568-030 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 1.614 in (41 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.754 in (44.55 mm). In service, this square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.
Viton® (FKM) is specified here for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The compound resists aromatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils and fuels, and engine and transmission fluids. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where low-molecular-weight organic acids or hot water and steam are present. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
Maintenance and OEM teams specify it across automotive fuel systems, oil and gas, and chemical processing.
Stocked as SV70030 and sold individually. Unit weight is approximately 0.696 g. Check the compound against your process media, pressure and temperature before committing to a design.
