APG stocks the SV70032, an AS568-032 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 1.864 in (47.35 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.004 in (50.9 mm). A square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.
Viton® (FKM) is specified here for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The material holds up against aromatic hydrocarbons, aggressive chemicals, and many acids. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
You will find this material specified across high-temperature process equipment, automotive fuel systems, and semiconductor equipment.
Order part number SV70032, sold individually. Unit weight is approximately 0.6274 g. As always, verify media compatibility and operating conditions against the requirements of your specific application.
