568-109 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SV70109, an AS568-109 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 0.299 in (7.59 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.505 in (12.83 mm). A square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. This material stands up to engine and transmission fluids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum oils and fuels. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to hot water and steam or amines will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
