APG stocks the SV70115, an AS568-115 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.674 in (17.12 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.88 in (22.35 mm). A square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.
Viton® (FKM) is specified here for outstanding high-temperature capability and industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. The material holds up against petroleum oils and fuels, engine and transmission fluids, and many acids. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to hot water and steam or ketones and esters will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
You will find this material specified across chemical processing, oil and gas, and aerospace.
Stocked as SV70115 and sold individually. Unit weight is approximately 0.624 g. Check the compound against your process media, pressure and temperature before committing to a design. Not finding the exact configuration you need? APG cross-references from prints, samples and competitor part numbers.
