APG stocks the SV70216, an AS568-216 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 1.109 in (28.17 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.387 in (35.23 mm). A square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Expect good resistance to aggressive chemicals, petroleum oils and fuels, and engine and transmission fluids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where ketones and esters or low-molecular-weight organic acids are present. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
