APG stocks the SV70222, an AS568-222 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 1.484 in (37.69 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.762 in (44.75 mm). A square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

The compound resists chlorinated solvents, petroleum oils and fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is known for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in hot water and steam or ketones and esters. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
