Ordered as TSP009, this is an AS568-009 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 0.208 in (5.28 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.348 in (8.84 mm). The back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) delivers excellent dielectric properties and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Expect good resistance to steam, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature call for a different compound.
