APG stocks the TSP011, an AS568-011 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 0.301 in (7.65 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.441 in (11.2 mm). A back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and excellent dielectric properties. The material holds up against steam, solvents, and strong acids and bases. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery are present.

Common environments for this compound include pharmaceutical and biotech, chemical processing, and aggressive-media pipelines.
