The TSP023 is an AS568-023 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 1.051 in (26.7 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.191 in (30.25 mm). This back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

This material stands up to steam, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is known for near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).

It sees regular use in pharmaceutical and biotech, aggressive-media pipelines, and chemical processing.
