The TSP038 is an AS568-038 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 2.614 in (66.4 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.754 in (69.95 mm). This back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) offers a very wide continuous service temperature range and near-universal chemical inertness. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, solvents, and steam. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.

Typical settings include food and beverage, chemical processing, and aggressive-media pipelines.
