This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-111 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 0.424 in (10.77 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.63 in (16 mm), catalogued under part number TSP111. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.
The compound resists oxidizing media, nearly all industrial chemicals, and strong acids and bases. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery are present.
Typical settings include pharmaceutical and biotech, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
Reference part number TSP111 when ordering; the item is sold individually. Check the compound against your process media, pressure and temperature before committing to a design. APG supports cross-referencing from drawings, samples and competitor numbers when a listed size is not an exact fit.
