This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-113 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 0.549 in (13.94 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.755 in (19.18 mm), catalogued under part number TSP113. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.
This material stands up to oxidizing media, strong acids and bases, and solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is known for excellent dielectric properties and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature.
It sees regular use in food and beverage, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
TSP113 ships individually. Confirm chemical compatibility, pressure and temperature against your own application requirements before installing. If you need a size, durometer or compound that is not listed, APG can cross-reference from a print, a sample or a competitor part number.
