Part number TSP211 is an AS568-211 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 0.796 in (20.22 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.074 in (27.28 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

This material stands up to steam, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) delivers excellent dielectric properties and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.
