The TSP224 is an AS568-224 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 1.734 in (44.04 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.012 in (51.1 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is valued for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against steam, solvents, and strong acids and bases. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in pharmaceutical and biotech, semiconductor fabrication, and food and beverage.
