This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-225 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 1.859 in (47.22 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.137 in (54.28 mm), catalogued under part number TSP225. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

Expect good resistance to strong acids and bases, oxidizing media, and steam. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is known for excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.
