Part number TSP227 is an AS568-227 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.109 in (53.57 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.387 in (60.63 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

This material stands up to oxidizing media, strong acids and bases, and solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) delivers near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.

Typical settings include semiconductor fabrication, chemical processing, and laboratory equipment.
