This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-233 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 2.859 in (72.62 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.137 in (79.68 mm), catalogued under part number TSP233. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.
PTFE (Teflon) is known for near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against steam, oxidizing media, and solvents. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery are present.
You will find this material specified across aggressive-media pipelines, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical and biotech.
This item is sold individually under part number TSP233. Confirm chemical compatibility, pressure and temperature against your own application requirements before installing. Not finding the exact configuration you need? APG cross-references from prints, samples and competitor part numbers.
