This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-246 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 4.484 in (113.89 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.762 in (120.95 mm), catalogued under part number TSP246. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is known for excellent dielectric properties and near-universal chemical inertness. This material stands up to solvents, oxidizing media, and steam. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery.
