TSP270 is an AS568-270 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 8.984 in (228.19 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.262 in (235.25 mm). In service, this back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified for near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. It resists nearly all industrial chemicals, strong acids and bases, and steam. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals are present.

It sees regular use in laboratory equipment, semiconductor fabrication, and food and beverage.
