This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-425 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 4.475 in (113.67 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.025 in (127.64 mm), catalogued under part number TSP425. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

Expect good resistance to solvents, strong acids and bases, and steam. PTFE (Teflon) offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals are present.
