The TSP437 is an AS568-437 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 5.975 in (151.77 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.525 in (165.74 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load. The catalog record notes: Split Ring Rectangular Cross-section.
PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for near-universal chemical inertness and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The compound resists strong acids and bases, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature call for a different compound.
Common environments for this compound include laboratory equipment, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical and biotech.
Order part number TSP437, sold individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 6 inch. Review your operating media and conditions against this specification before installation. Not finding the exact configuration you need? APG cross-references from prints, samples and competitor part numbers.
