This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-441 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 6.975 in (177.17 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.525 in (191.14 mm), catalogued under part number TSP441. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. The material holds up against nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and solvents. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery are present.

Typical settings include laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical and biotech, and aggressive-media pipelines.
