This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-006 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 0.114 in (2.9 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.254 in (6.45 mm), catalogued under part number TST006. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The compound resists strong acids and bases, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) offers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C).
