This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-011 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 0.301 in (7.65 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.441 in (11.2 mm), catalogued under part number TST011. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) delivers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. This material stands up to solvents, steam, and strong acids and bases. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
