Part number TST022 is an AS568-022 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 0.989 in (25.12 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.129 in (28.68 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

This material stands up to solvents, oxidizing media, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
