Part number TST027 is an AS568-027 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 1.301 in (33.05 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.441 in (36.6 mm). A back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

The material holds up against solvents, steam, and strong acids and bases. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in laboratory equipment, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
