29 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-029 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 1.489 in (37.82 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.629 in (41.38 mm), catalogued under part number TST029SO. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is known for excellent dielectric properties and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Expect good resistance to steam, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Exposure to molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
