Product Specification

-
This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-032 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 1.864 in (47.35 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.004 in (50.9 mm), catalogued under part number TST032SO. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The compound resists steam, nearly all industrial chemicals, and solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for excellent dielectric properties and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in chemical processing, food and beverage, and aggressive-media pipelines.

Reference part number TST032SO when ordering; the item is sold individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 1 7/8 inch. As always, verify media compatibility and operating conditions against the requirements of your specific application. Not finding the exact configuration you need? APG cross-references from prints, samples and competitor part numbers.
