47 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Ordered as TST047SO, this is an AS568-047 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 4.489 in (114.02 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.629 in (117.58 mm). The back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The material holds up against strong acids and bases, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) delivers a very wide continuous service temperature range and excellent dielectric properties. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.

It sees regular use in food and beverage, laboratory equipment, and aggressive-media pipelines.
