The TST111SO is an AS568-111 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 0.424 in (10.77 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.63 in (16 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and oxidizing media. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
