This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-115 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 0.674 in (17.12 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.88 in (22.35 mm), catalogued under part number TST115. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified for a very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Expect good resistance to strong acids and bases, oxidizing media, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals are present.

Common environments for this compound include aggressive-media pipelines, semiconductor fabrication, and chemical processing.
