Part number TST116 is an AS568-116 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 0.737 in (18.72 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.943 in (23.95 mm). A back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The material holds up against solvents, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. PTFE (Teflon) is known for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and excellent dielectric properties. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Applications involving molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.
