This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-124 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 1.237 in (31.42 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.443 in (36.65 mm), catalogued under part number TST124. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for a very wide continuous service temperature range and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, oxidizing media, and steam. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.
