The TST141SO is an AS568-141 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 2.3 in (58.42 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.506 in (63.65 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The compound resists oxidizing media, nearly all industrial chemicals, and strong acids and bases. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) offers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.

Typical settings include aggressive-media pipelines, chemical processing, and food and beverage.
