147 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Part number TST147SO is an AS568-147 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.675 in (67.95 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.881 in (73.18 mm). A back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for excellent dielectric properties and a very wide continuous service temperature range. This material stands up to solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
